After all of the weather problems during the Series this year, there was a lot of discussion about making it a neutral-site event
like the Super Bowl. Mike & Mike basically spent a whole day on the topic, and there are some big names in baseball who favor the idea.
Peter Gammons likes the idea of using a rotating list of warm-weather cities and the occasional cold-weather city with an indoor stadium, just like the NFL uses. Whitey Herzog thinks the league should build a multi-purpose indoor stadium in a neutral and centrally-located city like Nashville, and use it every year.
Mike & Mike discussed the concept of making a week-long event out of it, complete with Hall of Fame induction announcements, revealing the next season's schedule, and the like. But they also came up with a lot of reasons it isn't a good idea - taking home team fans out of the game, logistical issues with travel and hotels for as long as 7-10 days, not knowing how long the Series will last each year, etc.
For what it's worth, Bud Selig is opposed to the idea, so it's not likely it would gain any traction in the near future. But I have a feeling that it's a topic that will come up any time the Series is screwed up by weather in a cold-weather city. What do you think of the idea? Whether you like it or not, do you think it's a change we'll ever see happen?
