hola mis amigos! that's, "hello my friends!" in espaol for those not in the know. we're here again with another addition of "the music spotlight" *one person cheers* thanks ice man
anyways, i was told that doin a mainstream band would most likely generate more than one reply, so i PROMISE to do one in the next column. i bet i had someone there for a second....thinkin i was gonna do one. maybe not. whatever. today i decided to go with something fun. something you can really get up and dance to. and something that won't cost you a fortune at the stores. today, i decided to go with the ska-lishious flight 180's "lineup".

let's see what i can come up with this time.
completely off topic
since this is october, i know a certain few gtf trick or treaters who may be lookin for a good scare this year. well, i found the perfect movie for you guys. it's called feardotcom. it's not in the theatres so you'll have to rent it. but it sure is scary and even kinda fun in a sadistic, gonna-kill-you sorta way. in other news: a movie not to see is cold creek manor. it was stupid. unfortunately, it is in theatres, so if you've already spent the insane overprice of 8 dollars, you have my condolences. enjoy your halloween, and i swear, if any of you come to my house and do anything to it, i will hunt you down like the dog that you are and....and....do something REALLY NOT NICE. and you can put that in your goody bag (pillowcase...plastic pumpkinhead....whatever you collect candies in).
and with that, we cue the music
what style do they play?
i haven't listened to these guys 2 other albums just yet, but from this disc, they're a swing band, which is close to ska, but it focuses more on the horns than the punk guitars. ya gotta love it. preferably cuz i do soo much.
why should i like this album
i know you're askin yourself the same thing. well, first off, it's catchy as heck. i've showed it to a few friends and they fell in love with it on their first listen. heck, i've even made a few copies for em. secondly, if you like cover songs (done extremely well), you'll love this, as half the album is just that. including, a cover of brian setzer and the jungle book! not to mention, it's great to have on a boring rainy day and i promise you won't sleep on it.
gimme the 411 on these guys.....i need the info!
uhhh....they used to be known as 180 for one album, but i don't know the reason for the change. they have 8 members, and the band is led by a female. two actually. i think they're insanely gorgeous. and they sound a bit like gwen stefani from her earlier stuff. anything else you wanna know, ya may as well just make it up cuz i had no luck finding an official site for these guys. not even on their record label.
in other news
my dad's boss (a man) likes to dress like a woman. his female name is tabitha.
"please step away from the vehicle?? but my prosthetic arm is in the ignition!!!!"
don't even ask me why i called it that. this is actually the part where i list my 5 favorite songs on the album.
1. i wanna be like you - definitely my fave track over all. it was the first one i picked up on when i first listened to it cuz it was first on the jungle book! originally sung by king louie
2. look at that cadillac - again, another cover, but this time of brian setzer. if i'm not mistaken, it's from when he was a stray cat, but i could be wrong. either way, well done song.
3. banana split for my baby - has a 50's feel to it, good if you're into that time period.
4. this can't be love - an actual cover from the 50's and that's why i love it so. definitely the second best song on the album.
5. the devil is bad - yet another cover song of a ska band by the name of the w's. apparently they're christian, but i've never heard or seen another song by them. i have, however, heard the original, and i really think flight 180 did a good deed for the song. not sayin it's bad, just that i like the female version better.
anything else you'd like to say before i shoot myself??
yes. these guys aren't a cover band. if ya want one of those, allow me to introduce you to my friends, me first and the gimme gimmes.....in another column. from what i've read in a review at punkreviews.com, this was the only disc where they actually covered songs. so if ya like the style on this disc, i'm sure you'd like other stuff from them as well. i know i'm gonna look for it. if ya want this one, it should be pretty cheap if ya find it. heck, i found it for just a dollar brand spankin new! so if ya ever come across it, give it a look....or a download. whatever floats your ducky. anyways.....

well, i hope you liked my second installment of tms. please respond, reply, resist....whatever you do, do it to my column. it makes me happy to know someone's reading and whether or not this is cool. anywho, later gators.
