To be honest the only bands I have questioned were DC Talk and MXPX. DC Talk more because at the time I was immature in my faith but at the same time when they were talking about "crossing over' it seemed to me like they were selling out, but now that I look back I can see why they tried to do what they did.

MXPX as much as people support them I don't know what to say it seems like they drifted too far away. If you can point things out to me that show otherwise then please do.

The thing you said that DC Talk and Sixpence approach I just don't buy and here's why -

Years ago I used to watch Lightmusic all the time and tape it. I can't remember the host's name, I believe it Thom Green, left the show. This was long after I had stopped watching on account that I had left on my mission trip I came back and there was no more Lightmusic on. I did some research online and found out he quit and went to do missionary work. He left a statement on his website that basically said for years he believed that God would work through the music to find a lost generation at one time and now believed that Christian Music was starting to change too drasticaly and moving away from what he believed it was meant to do.

Whether you agree or not, my position after a lot of thought and prayer is that there are very few chosen to enter the mainstream/secular market. To date only Stryper, Amy Grant, Sixpence and POD have had any kind of impact on the industry. You could say DC Talk but I believe they stood too close to their convictions and MTV stopped their rotations.

It seems more and more that there are too many bands trying to find success and fame in the Christian realm and the message has been tainted by this.

Overall one of the major problems is the hypocrisy you find in the Christian industry starting with the Sandi Patti/Michael English scandels. And to top it off most major Christian Labels are owned by Sony and Columbia.

It's like my youth pastor explained to me a couple years ago - The reason the music that is meant for the youth is never going to reach those youth because the world looks at the music as "Christian" and the Chrsitian church doesn't want to support such diverse music that some consider Satanic. And if you don't believe that you should hear some of the things Oz Fox and Tim Gaines (Stryper) told me when I interviewed them.

And please Aqua and Kat don't take what I'm saying the wrong way - I'm not questioning their faith. I know these people are Christians I just see the Christian music as a way to convey spiritual truth and uplift people. That doesn't mean saying Jesus every 2 seconds as some believe but that means trying to walk the talk and not compromising on your standards.

I hope you understand what I'm saying.

So they will open up their mouths, but really who are theyAnd soon enough they'll fade away, only blind but soon they'll have to seeFear like a cancer spreads, how many more will drop their eyesLift their hands and wait to die, and how much time to spend to see who standsBut I think I know the way, I got a promise on the mind, and I'll be looking for what's mine Sovereign stillness whispers trust in me
