That's the thing I'm not anti-Nintendo. I do like their products but I'm not fan of their business practices. Working in a game store I got to see how they did things. Read any of the history on Nintendo and you'll start wondering how they became so big with some of the choices they made.

And hear me now - I'm actually a little in awe of how cheap they are being with the Wii. If you think of it they did the smartest thing out of the big 3 they could have. They just built a system with no overhead costs. Let's see they bought the motion technology so their R&D cost was nothing on that end. They are selling old games again through the online service. On the hardware end they upgraded the chipsets in the system for little cost. On the business end they are looking at making pure profit. Kudos to them for being smart on the business end.

And finally they are playing to their strengths. They are capitilizing on saying they are not a front runner but a company about games, it's a strategy I said they should have gone with for a long time.

Now here's the but - But on the consume end, I'm getting ripped. You're telling me I have to spend money on a game I already have owned for the third time, sometimes fourth time? All other classic games are coming out in compilations for around $20-$30, but they are compilations. Sega just put a collection for the PSP for $30 but it had 20+ games on it. Nintendo wanted you to spend $10 on each title when they rereleased them on the GBA. On a consumer level why can't they cut us a break and package the games together at 15 games a volume for $20?

And then think of the cost of the Wii, I'm paying $150 more then the GC when it is essentually the GC with an add-on? I payed $100 for my GC and I actually like playing it from time to time (wow I've been saying this for years), why should I pay Nintendo $150 more for an unproven gimmick? Motion technology has failed in the past, so you have to convince me as the consumer that it's here to stay and on top of that you have to win me back because for the last 10 years Nintendo has been in third place because of arrogance.

If I'm wrong on any of that then tell me where I am and if I am I'll admit I'm wrong.

Now as far as the other two - I'm pissed at Sony because the graphics are sub-par so far for what that system is capable of. Developers are jumping ship and they are pulling a Nintendo in some of their business practices. I can explain those things if you want me to.

And as for MS they are starting to do what people were afraid of them doing a while back - they are starting to buy developers or at least it looks that way.

But here's the real problem - Innovation in gaming in general is gone. That's not just a problem with Nintendo that's a problem with everyone right now. You may say the Wii is innovative but the technology has been used before and it never went anywhere. I played Descent using a sidewinder controller at an EB when they were demoing the controller and I thought it was cool, and I remember a lot of comments from store customers who used it were very similar to what you guys are saying about the Wii right now. So why didn't it take off? I could be wrong, this time it might work for them because of all the developer support. But a lot of things have to come together for it to work and I want to take the wait and see approach.

But on the other end, games are starting to fit into molds and honestly other then Bioshock (and even that style of game has been done before) what games out there are really innovative, creating new genres or taking risks? Yeah I like Dead Rising but if you try and tell me it's not another Resident Evil (like Devil May Cry) then you are lying to me. How many Rollercoaster Tycoon games do we have now?

So like I said Aqua if I'm wrong show me where I am and I'll admit I'm wrong. But I'm getting sick of just being labled when I actually have facts to back up what I'm saying, and on top of that some of the things I've been saying for a while now are starting to show up in reviews and articles in the gaming press. I'm sorry but I do pride myself with knowing a lot about the gaming business which is why I still want to start writing somewhere about the business. I just haven't had the time with the things going on with my family. I'm sorry everyone has their hobbys and this is one of mine. If that makes me a loser so be it. But can you understand my viewpoint now?
