and those classy Penguins fans boo the Canadian anthem tonight.
Quote:
The ice at Mellon Arena reads: "Greatest Fans in Hockey!"

Well, they might want to get rid of the exclamation point and add a question mark.

It took just 52 seconds for Pittsburgh fans to top Ottawa for the "classless" title.

Before fans had to be warned about not throwing objects on the ice after Gary Roberts had given the Penguins a 1-0 lead in the first minute of the first period of what turned out to be a 4-2 loss to the Senators in Game 3 of the Eastern Quarterfinals on Sunday, more than a smattering of boos could be heard during Jeff Jimmerson's slightly off key rendition of "Oh, Canada."

It wasn't all of the fans at a packed house of 17,132 for the Penguins' first playoff game in six years, but it was clearly audible sitting four stories above ice level. Even if it was a few dimwits, one boo would be way too many.

Greatest fans? Some are apparently geographically challenged and ignorant.

Um, you guys who booed the Canadian national anthem? Sidney Crosby is from Cole Harbor, Nova Scotia. Jordan Staal is from Thunder Bay, Ontario . Marc-Andre Fleury is from Sorel, Quebec . Penguins owner Mario Lemieux? Montreal.

They are Canadians!

Classless? Try clueless. Pittsburgh didn't just boo the Senators, they booed their own.

edited to add this from the PA Times
