While this topic has gone largely down the illegal hit path, I was also refering to idiotic rule changes aside from the latest hit rules, too. The inspiration for this came from me watching the NFL networls 100 greatest players series. I shit you not, under tofay's rules virtually every non-QB highlight play shown on their list would be either negated by replay or flagged/fined. The rules regarding force outs, possession, the tuck rule, today's definition of an illegal block... all staples of the highlight reels NFL Films rakes in the dough with. Shit man, the gross majority of LT's entire portfolio would get flagged and several of Jerry Rice's greatest catches would have been nuked because he lost the ball when he hit the ground out of bounds following his epic toe taps inside the sideline stripe.

What pisses me off is the game is NOT this damn complex. At it's core, football is about as pure a game as anyone will ever find. It became the greatest American sport by being that way and, just like NASCAR did with restrictor plates and bump draft penalties, the front office is killing everything that made it so popular.

If you kill me it's self defense
And if I kill ya' then I call it vengeance
Spit in your eye I will defy
You'll be afraid when I call out your name
