It also seems like people have been hitting differently - going for the upper body instead of the legs.  I see a lot of sloppy tackling in today's NFL and that's why.  And it begs to reason that when you're going for the upper body, it's going to be a lot more likely that you come into contact with the helmet.  This is not an issue easily fixed, because it relates to how players are taught to hit at a young age.  And it doesn't matter what you do at the NFL level because you're just not going to change how these guys play.  That's something that rests with pee-wee coaches and junior high/high school coaches
